Geology of the Okanogan Highlands 2011 - Stop 3

Turn Right onto Chesaw Road. 1.3 miles from the Pine Chee Wetland, the third stop provides a wide-spanning territorial view on the righthand side of the road (above) with an outcrop on the left (below).

A tour participant -- also a geologist -- takes a closer look at a rock from the outcrop.

Granodiorite from the outcropping on the left side of the road.

The white is feldspar, the shiny black is black mica biotite. The outcrop ranges from granodiorite to diorite.
